Custom Tungsten Carbide Solutions Engineered to Your Exact Specifications

Standard tooling often falls short in demanding industrial environments. When facing severe wear, high impact, or extreme temperatures, custom tungsten carbide tooling provides the necessary durability. With a material hardness ranging from 85 to 95 HRA, tungsten carbide significantly outperforms standard tool steels.

Goray Carbide focus entirely on the precision machining of non-standard carbide parts based on your engineering drawings and samples. By employing advanced diamond grinding and wire EDM processes, we shape ultra-hard carbide blanks into precision components ready for deployment.

4

Inspection & Delivery

Final dimensional inspection followed by sample approval or full batch shipment.

Engineering Review Before Production

Before machining begins, our engineers review your drawing or sample for carbide grade, critical tolerances, part geometry, grinding and EDM feasibility, process sequence, and inspection requirements. This helps reduce chipping risks, dimensional variation, and avoidable rework.

A

Design for Manufacturability (DFM)

The Situation: A customer provides a drawing for a slender carbide punch, but the length-to-diameter ratio, sharp shoulder transitions, and working-end tolerances present severe risks of deflection and chipping during grinding.

Goray Support: Through our DFM drawing review, we suggest adding specific radii (corner breaks), plan a staged grinding sequence to minimize stress, and agree on specific inspection points. This resolves the manufacturing risk before production begins.

B

Sample Evaluation

The Situation: A buyer only has a worn carbide replacement part from a legacy machine and lacks a complete 2D or 3D drawing.

Goray Support: Available after sample evaluation, we can perform dimensional measurement and structural analysis on the worn component. While not all old parts can be perfectly reverse-engineered, we evaluate the replacement component feasibility and draft a working drawing for approval.

Precision Inspection & Quality Control

Critical dimensions, profiles, concentricity, surface finish, and edge conditions are verified using appropriate measuring equipment. Inspection records and dimensional reports can be provided according to project requirements.

Questions Buyers Ask About Custom Tungsten Carbide Parts

How do I choose a custom tungsten carbide parts manufacturer?
Choose a manufacturer like SHENZHEN GORAY CARBIDE CO., LTD. that focuses on machining from blanks rather than just pressing powder, and ensure they have in-house grinding, EDM, and ISO 9001 dimensional inspection capabilities to meet your drawing requirements.
What information is required for a carbide-part quotation?
To receive an accurate quotation, please provide a 2D or 3D drawing, estimated quantity, required carbide grade (or application details for a recommendation), critical tolerance limits, and required surface finish.
What tolerances can custom tungsten carbide parts achieve?
Precision grinding can achieve tolerances as tight as ±0.002 mm, depending heavily on the part's length, wall thickness, overall geometry, and the chosen inspection method.
Can Goray Carbide support prototypes and small-batch orders?
Yes, we support prototype manufacturing and strongly recommend sample approval before moving to mass production to ensure all drawing specifications and application requirements are met.
How is the correct carbide grade selected?
The correct carbide grade is selected by balancing hardness and toughness based on your specific application, considering factors like abrasive wear, repeated impact, operating load, and corrosive environments.
Which processes are used for complex carbide geometries?
Complex geometries are machined using a combination of precision OD/ID grinding, profile grinding, and Wire EDM to achieve internal cavities, narrow slots, and non-circular profiles.
What affects the production lead time for custom carbide parts?
Production lead time is primarily affected by material blank availability, the complexity of the required grinding and EDM processes, quantity, and specific custom inspection requirements.
How are precision carbide components inspected?
Components are inspected using specialized measuring instruments to verify critical dimensions, straightness, roundness, concentricity, and surface finish against the approved drawing.
Can a worn carbide component be reproduced without a drawing?
Reproduction is available after sample evaluation; we can measure the worn part to draft a new drawing, though reverse-engineering feasibility depends on the extent of the wear and structural damage.
How are customer drawings handled during an OEM project?
Your drawings are strictly used for manufacturing evaluation and internal process planning. NDA support is available upon request to protect your proprietary designs.
